Acemoglu Hamam

Welcome to Acemoglu Hamam. Let me share with you the rich history of our establishment.

Immerse yourself in the ancient ambiance of our Turkish Bath, locally known as Hamam, located in Istanbul. Step back in time to the days of the Ottoman Empire, where you can feel like royalty.

Originally named Acemi Oglanlar, meaning "conscripted boys," this bath was an integral part of the military post where young boys were trained to become Janissaries, elite soldiers of the empire. Commissioned by Fatih Sultan Mehmet in the 15th century, it stands as one of the oldest baths in the city.

In 1826, Sultan Mahmud II eradicated the Janissaries, along with their institutions, including this bath. The new forces, known as Asakir-i Mansure-i Muhammediye, "The Victorious Soldiers of Muhammad," took over, and the bath transitioned to civilian use. It was later purchased by the father of the renowned Ottoman composer, Ismail Dede Efendi, who eventually sold it and donated it to the Yenikapı Dervish Lodge.

Today, our hamam stands as a testament to Ottoman architecture and tradition, offering a serene retreat for locals and visitors alike. Experience the tranquility and rejuvenation that our historic establishment has to offer, where centuries of history blend seamlessly with modern relaxation techniques.

We invite you to indulge in our hamam services and immerse yourself in the timeless allure of the Turkish Bath experience. Welcome to our sanctuary of relaxation and revitalization.
