A Legacy Preserving the Centuries-Old Ottoman Tradition: Acemoglu Hamam

The Acemoglu Hamam, built during the reign of Fatih Sultan Mehmet for the ‘Acemi Oğlanlar’ (trainee soldiers), has survived to the present day as part of the Ottoman understanding of education and discipline. This structure, which served the Janissary Corps, is one of the rare works that carries the stonework and elegance of the 15th century to the present day. The hamam, which has maintained its presence in the heart of Istanbul for centuries, silently bears witness to the city’s history.
